Hyderabad: The much-awaited meeting of 3-member Cabinet Sub Committee comprising KTR, Srinivas Yadav and Tummala along with Hyderabad Collector and other officials with 100-odd Telugu and Telangana filmmakers gave a much-need relief to Telangana film fraternity.

Minister KTR reportedly assured to protect the interest and livelihood of Telangana filmmakers, technicians and cine workers who have been waiting for opportunities for many decades and finally got a nod from none-other than-KTR.

Industry bigwigs like Dasari, Suresh Babu, Tammareddy Bharadwaj, C Kalyan, director N Shankar but it was young director Prem Raj who reportedly drew the attention of KTR towards protecting the identity distinct identify Telangana cinema. “Govt will take all steps to safeguard the interest of Telangana and Telugu cinema” KTR who acknowledged the identity of ‘Telangana cinema” at the meeting.

KTR reportedly announced 10 acres for Telugu filmmakers, technicians, workers and urged more prominence to Telangana talent in the allotment, since earlier Chitrapuri Colony was beseeched with bogus allotments.He also announcing to establish a state-of-art film institute to nurture young talent on par with Pune Film Institute, adds a source.

KTR appreciated writer-director Prem Raj who became the torch-bearer of Telangana cinema at the meeting. KTR urged the Hyderabad collector to look into issues raised by Prem Raj and urged Prem Raj to provide him GO’s passed in States of Maharashtra, Himachal Pradesh, to provide subsidies, tax exemptions, to resurrect Telangana movies.

When contacted Prem Raj, he was reluctant to reveal more “Telangana filmmakers and workers are suffering for decades and we sought the support of govt but we not against Telugu cinema. Since even Marathi and Bhojpuri cinema survived the onslaught of Hindi movies, with support of respective govts. Himachal Pradesh govt has passed a GO, which makes it mandatory for filmmakers or factories to hire 80% local members, such order will help us a lot” he cuts short.
