Hyderabad: Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) has raised objection over State government changing the names of Rajiv Dummugudem Project and Indira Sagar Rudramakota Lift Irrigation Scheme and redesign of the projects. The TPCC has urged the State government to immediately withdraw the move.

TPCC Working President Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka has addressed a letter to the Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao in this regard on Friday. In the letter Vikramarka said the Congress government had taken up Rajiv Dummugudem Project, Indira Sagar Rudramakota under the prestigious Jalayagnam project to meet the irrigation and drinking water needs of Khammam district.

The government, according to reports in the media, was planning to redesign the projects and change the name of them. He said Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi were the recipients of highest civil honour, Bharat Ratna. They had served the country and sacrificed their lives while serving the people, he pointed out. As such, it was not proper to change the names of the project, he said.
