Loving your mother gets a new meaning with the ‘Protect Your Mom’ campaign that gets children to lead the way for breast cancer awareness

The Rotary Club OF Greater Hyderabad (RCGH) launched the ‘Hair for Hope’ and ‘Protect Your Mom’ campaign in Hyderabad. As part of awareness for the campaign, an event on breast cancer education was organised at Vista School in Vattinagulapally recently.

Komal Harshitha (12) and Kushi (9) donated hair to the campaign ‘Hair For Hope India’, which was launched by Premi Mathew in 2013. The donated hair is converted into wigs and donated to chemotherapy patients.

“After I joined the Rotary Interact Club in my school I really learned the importance of “giving” to the society irrespective. With my mom’s great support and encouragement my sister and I took initiative to help cancer patients by donating our hair.

I feel that not only mental strength but physical appearance also plays a crucial role for a patient. So, it is important for them to feel normal and be confident,” said Komal Harishatha. “RCGH has helped us lot to fulfill our students desire, without them it could not happen,” added Jaya Mani, Principal, Vista School.
