The first Andhra Pradesh State Chess Championship 2016 for the Deaf began at Global Chess Academy in the city on Sunday. Assistant director for the differently- abled and senior citizens AVD Narayana Rao formally inaugurated the Championship.

The first Andhra Pradesh State Chess Championship 2016 for the Deaf began at Global Chess Academy in the city on Sunday. Assistant director for the differently- abled and senior citizens AVD Narayana Rao formally inaugurated the Championship.

Organising secretary of the championship and director of Global Chess Academy Shaik Khasim was also present at the event. The competition was attended by nearly 25 players who represented 13 districts of the State. Winners of the competition will be sent to participate in 18th National chess championship for Deaf 2016 to be held at Neemuch city of Madhya Pradesh from March 3.

The championship is co-organised by Sports Federation of Andhra Pradesh for Deaf and Apex Body for Deaf Sports Federation of the Deaf. General Secretary of Sports Federation of the Deaf Andhra Pradesh Y Sita Ram Prasad and others were present during the event.
