Singapore did extremely well to win a doubles and a singles match while the formidable opponents took two singles and the other doubles matches. Each team encounters features three singles and two doubles.

Meanwhile, the other powerhouse Korea whipped Philippines 5-0 in the men's category. World No 21 Dong Keun Lee was in his elements while crushing Frell Keeyann Gabuelo with a decisive 21-8 21-6 verdict.

It was a similar domination when Thailand women took on the hapless Sri Lankans. The Thai team scripted a comprehensive 5-0 win
Taking the lead, World No 8 Houwei Tian defeated Zi Liang Derek Wong 21-11 21-12 while Bin Qiao put it across Zin Rei Ryan NG.

The event has 14 men and 12 women teams vying for honours, which includes an easy passage to Thomas and Uber Cup Asia Continental Qualifying Round
