Hyderabad: Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) would run 4,000 special buses for Medaram Jatara, being organised for the first time after formation of Telangana State.

TSRTC JMD G V Ramana Rao said on Monday the corporation would ensure transport for 20 lakh pilgrims. The Sammakka Saralamma Jatara at Medaram is being celebrated for the first time after the formation of the Telangana State.

The TSRTC is deployed 11,000 staff, who include officers, supervisors, drivers, conductors and mechanics, to ensure that all the services are run smoothly. As many as 511 points will be set to clear the rush, he said. The RTC, in the united Andhra Pradesh, provided transport for 16 lakh passengers during Medaram jatara.

Buses were drawn from all 23 depots in the past. Now with the Telangana State having 10 districts only, buses would be drawn from 10 depots, he said. The State government released Rs 1.92 crore grant to TSRTC to provide transport service to the pilgrims. Bus station are being set up near the temple and air-conditioned buses would be run between Hyderabad and Medaram.
