Tenders called for 165 model markets
Tenders have been called for 165 model markets and the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has allotted Rs 300 crore for the construction. Tenders to 119 markets have been finalised and construction of 59 model markets is underway.

Model markets are planned for an area of 10,000 population. The existing population in GHMC over one crore and the 30 markets have not been able to cater to the growing needs of the population.
Each market is being developed at a cost of Rs 50 lakh. The construction of markets would be done in 400 sq yards area which would comprise two floors.
A senior official said that the construction in all circles would be taken up in a phased manner and is expected to be complete in two months. Work is going on at brisk pace at Kukatpally, Mansoorabad and Malakpet.
