The American India Foundation (AIF) launched a skill training centre in the city to make the youth powerful engines of the country’s economy. Launched in association with the Community Against Poverty (CAP) Foundation, the Market Aligned Skills Training (MAST) centre was inaugurated by James Robey, Director, Group Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability, in Toli Chowki on Monday.

The MAST Centre aims to enhance the livelihoods of around 900 youth over a period of three years by providing them with skill-based training in hospitality, facility management and retail marketing sectors.Speaking at the launch, AIF’s Country Director, Nishant Pandey said, “At the American India Foundation, providing access to skills training for unemployed youth is a significant area of focus.

We are deeply grateful to Capgemini for their support and Community Against Poverty (CAP) Foundation, our local NGO implementation partner.” “With this centre we reached a total of 184 training centres in 21 States across India, harnessing India’s youth to become powerful engines of the country economy,” he added.

Speaking at the event, Hanumant Rawat, AIF’s Senior Livelihoods Advisor, informed that the trainees would be tracked through a customised system and Management Information Systems (MIS). “The students would then be exposed to industry visits, lectures by industry experts and on the job trainings, besides the theory and practical classes in selected trades,” he added.
