Chief Minister directs officials to release funds on time to provide the best facilities to devotees

Hyderabad: The State government is planning to conduct Krishna Pushkaralu in a big way for 12 days from August 12 to 23. The Pushkarams will be conducted in Mahbubnagar and Nalgonda districts. The officials pegged the estimations at Rs 825.16 crore for all arrangements for the spiritual extravaganza.

Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao decided to allot the required funds in 2016-17 Budget itself and asked the officials to provide the best arrangements to the devotees coming from various places. The officials estimated that about Rs 744.85 crore would be required for laying new roads, expansion of existing roads under various departments including Roads and Buildings, Panchayat Raj and Irrigation and works related to bathing ghats, putting up drinking water taps, other structures, sprucing up temples nearby and making renovations for the purpose.

Besides allotting these funds in the forthcoming budget in March, the Chief Minister decided to release special funds of Rs 80.31 crore. The Chief Minister directed the officials to release funds on time and ensure that there would be no fund paucity with regard to providing the best facilities to the devotees. The government wanted to conduct the Pushkaralu in a grand manner in two districts as a large number of people from various places would throng the area.

According to sources, large chunk of funds will go to laying roads in the two districts. It is learnt that the officials were asked to spring into action to lay roads from Nagarjuna Sagar and other areas connecting the places of Pushkaralu in in Nalgonda and Mahbubnagar districts and about 50 Pushkar ghats were being planned for the event in both the districts.
