Hyderabad: A week after blocking the official website meant for issuing regular Government Orders, the Telangana government has taken another ‘stringent’ step barring the entry of the Press and visitors from the Section Offices in the State Secretariat.

The GAD (General Administration Department) issued a circular (Memo Number 56) to all departments and instructed the Section Officers not to allow the Press as well as others visiting their work stations.

“All the departments of the Secretariat are requested to issue suitable instructions that visitors shall meet officers only and that sections shall not entertain visitors including the Press,” the memo said. It also asked them to display boards in the departments requesting visitors to meet only officers.

The officials said as part of tightening security in the Secretariat, several measures were also being taken up for the smooth conduct of operations in the Secretariat administration.

It includes appointment of nodal person in each department for the issuance of passes for visitors and only Private Secretaries (PS) to Ministers and Secretaries are authorised to issue visiting passes. Any requests made/issued by PAs (personnel assistants) of Ministers and Secretaries would not be valid.

All visitors have been requested to deposit their belongings at the reception hall. Except the police and security personnel, no one would be allowed to enter the Secretariat with a weapon, despite having a valid license. Unlike in the past, followers of MPs and MLAs should also obtain entry passes.
No private vehicle would be allowed on the premises of A, B, C and D Blocks, except government vehicles. All others have been asked to park their vehicles on premises earmarked for the helipad at the Secretariat.

Chief Secretary Rajiv Sharma said in the memo that the holders of temporary passes issued for a period of three months would be permitted inside during the visiting hours between 2 pm and 5 pm only. Earlier, the visiting hours were between 3 pm and 5 pm in the Secretariat.
