Orders on Dalmia Cements MD reserved

Justice Vilas Afzulpurkar of the High Court at Hyderabad on Wednesday reserved orders on a petition challenging summons issued by the Enforcement Directorate. The judge was dealing with a petition filed by Punith Dalmia, Managing Director Dalmia Cements, challenging summons issued by the ED in connection with the illegal assets case of YSRCP President Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy.

The petitioner contended that the ED had arrayed him as an accused in the case under the Money Laundering Act and hence he was well within his rights to remain silent. The ED contended that a suspect or an accused was not free to decide whether or not to respect the summons issued by the ED under the said Act.
