Scores of students arrived at a star hotel in the city on Thursday, to learn about options to study abroad. The fair on education was organised by IDP Education where 13 universities from Canada and USA assemble under one roof and interacted with the young men and women aspiring to study abroad.

After the registrations, students went through the first round of counseling by the IDP staff and they were briefed about the choices of universities they could opt for. The youth had a chance to interact with representatives from the overseas institutions.

“Every year, several students planning to travel abroad to study have many doubts. This fair not only assists them to find the right university but also helps them with visa and accommodation,” says Piyush Kumar, Country Director, India - IDP Education.

The IDP also earlier hosted such fairs in various cities. In Hyderabad, students preferred US and UK. But in Vijayawada youngsters are open to US, UK, Canada and Australia. Compared to last year, there is an increase in the number of students opting to go abroad. When it comes to scholarships, institutions have their own criteria,” he adds.

Conestoga College, Fanshawe College, Fleming College and Thompson Rivers University from Canada, Cleveland State University, Colorado State University, Embry Riddle Aeronautical University, National University, Western Michigan University, Western New England University, University of Alabama and Huntsville from USA present at the fair offered scholarships and on-the-spot admissions.
