KCR to lay foundation for Cyient’s technology development centre today

Hyderabad: In a significant development that could give a big boost to Telangana government’s plans to develop information technology sector in Warangal, city-based software major Cyient is setting up a state-of-the-art technology development centre at Madikonda Special Economic Zone (SEZ) near Warangal.

Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao will lay foundation stone for the new facility on Friday at the SEZ established by Telangana State Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (TSIIC). Spread over five acre of area, the planned Cyient Technology Development Centre will cover an area of 70,000 square feet, supported by high-speed data networks for real-time online transactions.

Initially, the facility will commence operations at the TSIIC’s incubation centre at the SEZ in April 2016 and will employ around 1000 professionals over the next 18-24 months. “In establishing the centre in Warangal, we recognise the role that tier-2 cities are playing in India’s growth. There is a strong need to promote balanced economic growth in rural India by creating employment opportunities in tier-2 locations,” said BVR Mohan Reddy Founder and Executive Chairman Cyient.

Our centre in Warangal will help accelerate socio-economic development of the region and it will be the fourth technology development centre in tier-2 cities for Cyient, he added. The Cyient’s new centre will focus on advanced geographic information systems (GIS), remote sensing, and photogrammetry technologies, catering to a host of solutions for the transportation, utilities, and communications sectors.

Additionally, the center will have world-class spatial data analytics solutions to address the requirements of specialized geospatial data processing services, using light detection and ranging (LiDAR) and other point cloud technologies.

“The facility will support Cyient’s worldwide digital technology initiatives, including those in IoT, big data analytics, and smart cities, and cater to the company’s global clients,” the company said in a release. To mark the occasion,

Cyient Foundation, the corporate social responsibility arm of Cyient, will exchange a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the District Education Officer to adopt the Zillah Parishad Secondary School and the Mandal Parishad Primary School in Madikonda. The foundation will help provide quality education to over 500 children there.
