Hyderabad: Though 2,000 farmers have committed suicide since the formation of Telangana State, the government has recognised only 362 cases as farmer suicides. The GO 192 has been useful only to 18 per cent of the families.

Sharing the details, Kondal, a field level worker with Rythu Swarajya Vedika said, “With a plethora of documents to be submitted, family members are unable to run around government offices. Simple procedures are the need of the hour.”

Only 11 families have received the entire Rs 6 lakh ex-gratia amount. The government recognised 54 cases in Warangal, 87 cases in Medak, 25 cases in Nalgonda, 69 cases in Mahbubnagar, 32 cases in Karimnagar, 40 cases in Adilabad, 36 cases in Rangareddy, two cases in Nizamabad and 17 cases in Khammam districts.
