SUCI demands release of Kanhaiya
The Socialist Unity Center of India (Communist) of AP and Telangana conducted a Maha Dharna at Dharna Chowk on Thursday, demanding the release of Kanhaiya Kumar and justice to the family of Rohit Vemula. The Socialist Unity Center of India (Communist) of AP and Telangana conducted a Maha Dharna at Dharna Chowk on Thursday, demanding the release of Kanhaiya Kumar and justice to the family of Rohit Vemula. Speaking at the dharna, Gali Vinod and Dr Sudhakar said that Rohith Chakravarti Vemula was a bright PhD student at the University of Hyderabad (UoH), who committed suicide on January 17, due to the harassment and discrimination as he hailed from a Dalit community.
“He was expelled from his hostel and his fellowship was stopped. Rohith was forced to live in the room of Ummna Anna and there he committed suicide,” the added and said that the Chief Minister, K Chandrashekar Rao is silent on the issue and no action has been taken to prevent such occurrences in future.
