The Special Deputy Collector (SDC), Vithal Rao, who was assigned for inspection of construction permits near Kapra Lake in Secunderabad, ordered the municipal authorities and encroachers that all construction should be stayed and no new permissions to be given till the matter was cleared by Lokayukta.

The announcement came after activists, Satish Kumar and Sastry along with other members of Save Our Urban Lakes (SOUL) organised a joint inspection of the area on Saturday along with officials from revenue, irrigation and police departments in response to the complaint filed on February 23 on the matter and SOUL’s affidavit at Lokayukta on February 26.

The affidavit opposed the involvement of land shark Balreddy on the matter who made attempts to foil the inspection of the Lake, however, had to back down after the involvement of the SDC on the matter.

Soul champions, Satish Kumar and Sastry who are saviours of the Lake fought against its destruction and prevented a road from being laid right through it by land sharks. Later, the required documents were handed over to the SDC, Vithal Rao. In addition, the Joint Collector of Ranga Reddy assured Dr Lubna Sarwath that any complaints brought to his notice will be acted upon promptly.
