Bhadrachalam: Stage is set to offer diamond-studded golden armour (Suvarnabhadra Kavacham) to presiding deities in the temple town of Bhadrachalam.

Bhadradri Temple Executive Officer Kurakula Jyoti and Vedic Committee member Gudimella Muralikrishnamacharyulu have said “Navahnikotsavams” would be held between March 10 and 19 As part of the event, Seetha Kalyanam is scheduled to be held on March 11, felicitation to a tribal as part of “Guha Maryada” will be held on March 12, Sri Rama Paduka Pattabhishekam on March 13, Abhishekam and Pulamalikala Maryada at Jatayuvu Mantap are scheduled for March 14.

A dharma yatra is scheduled to be held with participation of youth on March 15, submission of “Sinduram” and flower garlands to Lord Anjaneya of Tatagudi on March 16, recitation of the Virat Apaduddharaka stotram on March 17, Mahanadi Jalala Sobha Yatra on March 18 and Pratishtanga Maha Pattabhishekam on March 19.

During the period recitation of various chapters from Ramayana will be held. On the ninth day, a Maha Purnahuti will be performed. Also Pratishtanga Maha Pattabhishekam will be performed on a grand scale. Chinna Jeeyar Swamy will take part in the celebrations on March 16.

Further, the temple will present Deeksha clothes to devotees chanting Sriram mantra. Each day, Ram mantra will be chanted 12,000 times. Required permission has been obtained from Endowments Departments to present Swarnabhadra Kavacham to deities. Sthapati Dandapani is busy designing the ornament at Bhadrachalam. The armour will be presented to Lord Rama on March 18.

Temple authorities appealed to devotees to take part in the celebrations in a large number. Jyothi said a devotee from Bengaluru who wished to remain anonymous agreed to donate the armour made with 12 kg of gold and studded with diamonds. Cost of the armour is Rs 5 crore. She said as much as 80 per cent of the designing work had been completed.
