Gajwel: Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao on Friday said the State would set an example at the national level and Erravalli would be made a model village. In his address to a public gathering here on Friday, he announced plans to promote agriculture productivity in the village and achieve an inclusive growth.

During his visit to Erravalli under Jagdevpur mandal, KCR promised to provide water, power and fertilisers to the farmers to achieve better yield. He said the government had undertaken the task of restoring four lakes and building check dams. After inspecting the double bedroom houses under construction in the village, KCR announced a unique scheme to boost agriculture productivity. He proposed to irrigate 2,800 acres through drip irrigation system.

The total land would be divided into 14 bits. Unemployed youth in the village would be trained to operate drip irrigation system between 5 am and 11 am. The youth thus trained would ensure that every bit of land is provided with water. The Village Committee would procure fertilisers and pesticides and distribute them to the farmers. The Chief Minister suggested that the farmers grow crops three a year and become self-sufficient.

He asked the farmers to grow short-term crops during summer, which could be harvested in 60-70 days. He expressed the hope on Nallakunta, Lingarajukunta, Majireddikunta, Kottakunta and Koodavelli Vagu would meet the irrigation needs of the surrounding villages. He referred to his upcoming visit to Maharashtra on March 8 to hold talks with his counterpart to secure Godavari water to Kondapochamma and Komuravelli

reservoirs. He assured the villagers that the prestigious double-bedroom houses for the people in the two villages would be completed by May 15 and that he would personally attend the inauguration of them before May 30.
