Other demands put forth were payment of monthly salary instead of commission that is being paid now and to provide job security. Jyothi Dhar Singh and Sakilam Venkata Ramana, president and secretary of the Association, in a joint statement, said, “There are about 17,159 ration shop dealers covering 10 districts of Telangana of which 1,487 are from the GHMC limits covering Hyderabad and Rangareddy Districts.

These shops are experiencing untold hardships due to low commission of Rs 6,160 per month. Although their services are essential their jobs are unsecured.” There are more than 5,600 women working as dealers in the State. They members represented their problems to the Chief Minister, K Chandrashekar Rao, deputy Chief Minister Md Mahmood Ali, civil supplies minister E Rajender and commissioner of civil supplies who assured them of resolving the issue. However, members maintain that no action was taken.
