Hyderabad: Three-time hockey Olympian N Mukesh Kumar is in trouble as Begumpet Police has registered an FIR against him under SC/ST Atrocities Act. It has been under Section 3 (1) (X) of Prevention of Atrocities against SC/ST Act, following a complaint by hockey player M Nagaraju.

On February 25, Nagaraju lodged a complaint with the Begumpet police alleging that on February 6, when he and three other players G Ravi Kumar, B Santosh Kumar and G Yeshwanth Rao went to Gymkhana grounds for selection trials, the former India captain had abused them by using their caste.

He stated that Mukesh Kumar was against their selection and participation in the CM Hockey Cup and asked them to buy the certificate from the market and do traditional work. Basing on the complaint, the investigating officer registered a case against Mukesh and recorded the statements of the victims.

Meanwhile, Secretary of Telangana Hockey, Mukesh Kumar denied all the allegation and insisted that ‘the police had called us and we gave our version. I never used unparliamentry language against the players,” he said.
