The MVS Government Degree College of Mahbubnagar is all set to get a facelift very soon. While taking part as a chief guest at the 51st annual function of the College, Srinivas Goud, the MLA of Mahbubnagar, promised to develop the degree college in a holistic manner.

Mahbubnagar: The MVS Government Degree College of Mahbubnagar is all set to get a facelift very soon. While taking part as a chief guest at the 51st annual function of the College, Srinivas Goud, the MLA of Mahbubnagar, promised to develop the degree college in a holistic manner. “Very soon we will invite the Chief Minister to the college and see that adequate funds are released for its development,” said the MLA.

At present, the college has got a sanction of Rs 2 crore and about Rs 70 lakh is going to be spent on the development of infrastructure of the college. Recently the college has got additional buildings that were built at the cost of Rs 26 lakh.

Speaking on the occasion, the MLA said the Telangana State was achieved due to the sacrifices of quite a lot of students and they remain to have a key role to play in the development of the State. Referring to the free coaching provided by the government to group-1 and group-2 aspirants in the district, he said, “Every student must utilize the free coaching provided by the government and bag jobs.”

The MLA said the first government medical college in the new State was sanctioned for Mahbubnagar district and is going to be built at a cost of Rs. 450 crore. Similarly, the district has got the maximum priority in irrigation and drinking water projects like PRRL-I and water grid.

About Rs 35 crore is being spent on completing irrigation projects related to Mahbubnagar town and the district tourism has also got a big boost this year, he informed. On the occasion, the MLA distributed prizes to the winners of sports and games events and handed over cheques of Rs. 5000 each to the subject toppers along with a gold medal.

Setting an example, Krishna Reddy, a retired principal of MVS College, has donated Rs 30,000 to the college. In addition to this, Rs. 15,000 each was contributed by Keshava Rao, the college Vice-principal, and Dr C H Chandraih of MVS College.
