Hyderabad: The mystery behind the 24-year-old techie’s murder has been finally solved by the Task Force police. All the four accused, including the car driver, from Old City were apprehended. The police seized the car in which they fled, sources said. Sanjay Gunje was stabbed in the early hours of Thursday near Swapnalok Complex in Secunderabad.

The Task Force police on Saturday traced the car used by the accused to Talabkatta after the car owner informed the police. Following this, the police apprehended car driver Babu of Karimnagar district and based on his confession another accused was also nabbed.

Sources said that Babu confessed to the police that on Thursday, while he and his three friends Mubashir, Salman and Khadir were heading to Old city from Banjara Hills in a rented car (AP 15 AQ 8055) towards Secunderabad, Sanjay asked them to drop him near Swapnalok complex.

During the travel, Sanjay irritated them by changing the destination points. He also abused others and commented when one of the accused Mubashir was talking on a phone. “Babu also told police that while Mubashir was talking on phone, Sanjay commented on him.

When they asked Sanjay to get down of the car, Sanjay denied and started abusing them. Even after dropping him at Patny, he abused them while they were returning,” the sources said quoting Babu’s confession. “They (accused) got infuriated with the comments of Sanjay. Mubashir was carrying a knife with him and he stabbed Sanjay in chest resulting in instant death,” the sources added.

The police said prime accused Mubashir was earlier involved in physical assaults in Old City. Sanjay screamed after the first stab, but it was too late for the patrolling team to react and rescue him, as the knife went deep into his chest. The accused stabbed him two more times in rage and Sanjay collapsed, the police said.

On seeing the news reports, the accused have changed the car number from ‘BOSS’ to 8055, in order to evade suspicion. The police said that they have taken custody of two persons including the car driver and search is on to nab the two absconding, who are residents of Old City.
