Eminent personalities spoke on the significance of women’s health and its relevance to being beautiful at the COWE Walkathon

The Confederation of Women Entrepreneurs of India (COWE) in association with LivLife conducted the COWE Walkathon for women’s health and fitness at KBR Park in Jubilee Hills on Sunday. Dr Ch Laxma Reddy, Health Minister flaged off the walk. Shilpa Reddy, Fashion Designer, Brand Ambassador for COWE India; Sunitha, Singer; Lt. Col Pranjali Dhume; Meghana Reddy, Rhythmic Gymnast and P Neelima, Mountaineer also participated in the symbolic walk.

Prior to the inaugurating the walkathon, Dr Laxma Reddy said, “If mother is healthy, the whole family will be healthy. The government recognises this fact and has been working accordingly to ensure women health gets the maximum priority.”
He stressed upon the importance of regular screening of breast and cervical cancer. “These screenings need to be held at regular interval in rural areas,” he said.

Sunitha, Tollywood singer said that women need to be selfish as far as their health is concerned. “They must think that ‘If I am well, I will be able to take care of the family’. It takes many births to be born as woman,” she said amidst loud cheers and applause from the audience.

Dr Nandakishore Dukkipati, founder of Livlife said obesity negatively impacts the health of women in many ways. “Being overweight increases the relative risk of diabetes and coronary artery disease in women. LivLife Hospitals has helped thousands of patients collectively lose more than 70,000 kgs of excess weight,” he informed. Shilpa Reddy, Fashion Designer and beauty pageant said be selfish to take care of your health and fitness. “Mediate for your inner wellness,” she told the audience.

Dr Shubha said, “You can’t be beautiful outside without being beautiful from inside. Carrying too much fat around your waist can increase your risk of developing many diseases. Workout for three or four times a week is a must. Simple physical activity is very important for women. If you can’t run, you walk,” she told the 200 women assembled for the Walkathon.
