The initiative urges people to turn off engines of their vehicles if their stoppage is for over 10 seconds, which gives the initiative the potential to reduce air pollution by eight per cent.

In a landmark step, the Hyderabad Traffic Police powered up with CredR for the launch of the company’s social initiative, ‘Off Ok Please’ on Thursday. The initiative urges people to turn off engines of their vehicles if their stoppage is for over 10 seconds, which gives the initiative the potential to reduce air pollution by eight per cent.

The Additional Commissioner of Hyderabad Traffic Police, Jithender along with other prominent delegates from the Hyderabad Traffic Police and Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) who came together to support the campaign and initiate a change for the better including over 200 students from colleges, who took the pledge to turn off the engines of their vehicles at traffic signals and rallied this message among the masses.

Elated with a positive response received in Hyderabad, Sumit Chhazed, Co-Founder of CredR, said, “As CredR turned one, we wanted to create a social impact in the cities in which we operate, to help keep it safe and thriving. We comprehend that air quality has a strong bearing on India’s ability to sustain high economic growth.”

Addressing the event ACP Traffic, Jithender said, “We are happy to collaborate with CredR for this noble cause. We truly believe one positive step forward from the people will make a difference to the society. We hereby stand strong with CredR in educating the masses about the alarming rise in air pollution and health hazards caused by it. I would also like to take the pledge to follow ‘OFF OK PLEASE’ and inculcate this as a habit in my city and my neighborhood as well.”

About 1,000 rickshaws in Hyderabad have come forward to support the cause and to actively spread the message. A dedicated webpage OffOkPlease.org has been launched to help patrons calculate the pollution caused due to idling of vehicles on traffic signals. The ‘OFF OK PLEASE’ campaign will run across six cities that include Hyderabad, Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru, Pune and Ghaziabad.
