The fifth edition of the five-day biennial civil aviation show, ‘India Aviation’ will “take off” at the Begumpet Airport at 3 pm from Wednesday.

The fifth edition of the five-day biennial civil aviation show, ‘India Aviation’ will “take off” at the Begumpet Airport at 3 pm from Wednesday. It will be inaugurated by President, Pranab Mukherjee, in the presence of Governor ESL Narsimhan, Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, AP Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and Union Minister of Civil Aviation, P Ashok Gajapathi Raju.

Among other dignitaries who will also grace the inaugural function include Andrzej Adamczyk, Minister of Infrastructure and Construction, Poland; Dato’ Seri Liow Tiong Lai, Minister of Transport, Malaysia, Alexander Dobrindt, Federal Minister, Ministry of Economic Affairs and Energy, Department IV D 2, Aviation, Germany; Susan Kurland, Assistant Secretary, USA and HE Jiří Koliba, Deputy Minister, Czech Republic (Ind. & Trade).
Seven ambassadors of various countries among other dignitaries will grace the occasion.

These include Tomasz Łukaszuk, Ambassador, Poland; Dato Paduka Sidek Ali, High Commissioner, Brunei Darussalam; Dr Ahmed Albanna, Ambassador, UAE; Hillan Hovorka, Anbassador, Czech Republic; Chee Wern Wye, Special Secretary, Malaysia and HE Nadir Patel, High Commissioner, Canada.

The theme of this year’s show is ‘Indian Civil Aviation Sector: Potential as Global Manufacturing and MRO Hub’. Following the inauguration there will be a flying display by Mark Jefferies from UK. Speaking on the highlights of the India Aviation show this year, Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Civil Aviation, Anil Srivasatava said that more than 200 major participants from 12 countries are expected to take part in the show.

“Leading Aircrafts, Helicopter Manufacturers like Boeing, Airbus, Textron, Embraer, Gulfstream, Dassault, Agusta Westland, Bell Helicopters, Russian Helicopters and Airbus Helicopters will also take part in the show. Some well-known engine manufacturers- CFM, UTC, GE Aviation, Rolls Royce, Pratt & Whitney will showcase their products and expertise.”

A one day conference on Indian Civil Aviation Sector: Potential as Global Manufacturing Hub will be held on March 17. The conference will focus on policy issues and business aspects will be held concurrent to the exhibition. Eminent speakers, policy makers and experts will address the conference.

The show and conference is jointly organised by the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI). View for people Keeping in tune with the business objective of the expo, the first three days of the show are for business visitors only and general visitors are allowed only on March 19 and 20 in two sessions; from 10 am to 1 pm and from 2 pm to 5 pm.

The expo is not open for anyone below 18 years of age. Visitors will only be able to see static flights from 30 ft away from the barricade. Interested visitors can book tickets on bookmyshow.
