Farmers from the adjoining Ranga Reddy district were on Monday enlightened about the latest farming practices that are proven methods towards ensuing safe food besides improving yield. An initiative by agrochemicals major, Insecticides (India) Limited, under the IIL Foundation banner, the day-long training and awareness program for farmers in joint collaboration with Department of Agriculture, Ranga Reddy district, it was organised in the Rajendranagar campus of PJSTS Agriculture University,

The ‘Grow Safe Food’ campaign’ was a CSR exercise taken up by IIL Foundation to train an estimated 400 farmers drawn from across the city outskirts. Apart from the Joint Director Agriculture, the program was attended by Dr D Raji Reddy, Director of Research, PJSTSAU, Shashi Bhushan, Principal Scientist-Entomology, Jagadishwar, Principal-Scientist-Pathalogy, NGR Verma, Senior Scientist-Entomology and Shrikrishna, Principal Scientist, KVK and V K Garg, General Manager, Insecticides (India) Limited.

Garg said that they endeavoured to bring agri-experts, scientists and farmers under one platform so that knowledge could be into practical uses in order to ensure better productivity. The aim is also to help farmers make optimal use technological innovations besides a judicious use of agro chemicals.
