Music and the city
Weekends are for merry-making. Head to a pub, order mugs of beer, rounds of whiskey or maybe even, shots of tequila. Pair it with dinner-a plate of saucy pasta, a medium-rare steak. Dim lights combined with an electrifying atmosphere with live performance from a band… Ah! Now, that’s a dream

Guitar riffs reverberated through the room and the spotlight turned towards the stage making it a night to remember when Delhi-based rock and roll band, Parikrama took to stage at the Hard Rock Café.

In a compelling performance, the band’s line up with Nitin Malik (vocalist), Sonam Sherpa (lead guitarist), Subir Malik (keyboard artiste), Gaurav Balani (bass), Srijan Mahajan (drummer), Imran khan (violins) and Shambhunath Nhattacharya (tablas /percussions) infused some much needed weekend leisure.

The legendary rock band playing Classic Rock based music, fused with Indian instruments like the tabla and the violin, and has been around for 25 years. The band has done more than 3,000 shows till date in India and across the world, including countries like USA, Russia, Canada, Vietnam, UK, Cambodia, Laod, Ethopia, Nigeria, Oman, UAE, Bhutan, Nepal and Singapore.

They performed own compositions and covers including numbers like “Colourful wonderment”, “Till I’m no one again”, “How do we decide it”, “I believe”, “But it rained” and “Xerox” amongst others that drove the crowed insane with merry. “Rock will never die. The music is like a strong pillar that will be there for a long time.

And, I am not saying so just because I play this kind of music,” says Subir Malik speaking after the performance. Recalling his first performance, he says, “We wrote “Xerox” in 1991; it was amazing and I grew up by listening to classic rock.” Having completed 25 years in the music industry, the band is now set to tour the UK and consider it the ‘biggest break’ so far. In addition, they are currently working on something new and that the announcement would be made soon.
