Poetry reaffirms our humanity by revealing to us that individuals, everywhere in the world, share the same questions and feelings. The World Poetry Day was observed on Monday to encourage the oral tradition of poetry recitals

When 12 filmmakers from either side of the border come together to showcase their zeal for unity, it is bound to leave a lasting impression. In a one minute and forty seconds video released by ‘Zeal for Unity’, which is Zee Entertainment’s peace initiative, filmmakers from India and Pakistan recited a short poetry aimed at bringing together the two nations in conflict through their creative thought leaders.

“Haath milao, it takes two... Gale lag jao, it takes two... Mein aur Tu, it takes two”, recite deep and tranquil voices in the short poetry. The video starts some of the most prolific directors that includes names like Tigmanshu Dhulia, Aparna Sen, Tanuja Chandra, Nikhil Advani, Ketan Mehta, Bejoy Nambiar from India and Sabiha Sumar, Shahbaz Sumar, Khalid Ahmed, Mehreen Jabbar, Meenu-Farjad, Siraj-Ul-Haq from Pakistan.

The beautifully worded poem is written by Kausar Munir and gives a simple yet powerful message that change doesn't happen from one side, it takes two to make a difference. Sometimes all you need to do is to extend a hand; sometimes you have to go back to your roots to find each other, sometime all you have to take is a small step for a big change.

These directors have done just that and now they are inspiring us to do the same. As India and Pakistan are about to enter the 70th year of partition, the powerful lines of the poem echo the thoughts of the people from both countries—peace and harmony.
