The NGO Kriya Sangh Society celebrated the World Meteorological Day at the India Meteorological Department in Begumpet Station on Wednesday. More than 25 students of Rasoolpura-based NGO participated and highlighted the theme, ‘hotter, drier, wetter – face the future’. They met Dr GV Rama (Retd) Scientist of Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO).

February, 2016 was recorded as to having the highest temperatures ever in that month. Climate change is real and is happening faster than we think. On World Meteorological Day, which was observed around the world on Wednesday, participants joined to create awareness on the theme, ‘Hotter, drier, wetter – face the future’

The NGO Kriya Sangh Society celebrated the World Meteorological Day at the India Meteorological Department in Begumpet Station on Wednesday. More than 25 students of Rasoolpura-based NGO participated and highlighted the theme, ‘hotter, drier, wetter – face the future’. They met Dr GV Rama (Retd) Scientist of Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO).

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Rama said, “The India Meteorological Department is serving the nation since 1875, with a vision to nurture science and technology of meteorology and provide increasingly more efficient weather and climate services for safety of life and property.”

Applauding the efforts of the children, she said, “To contribute to the cause of national building activities and to promote research in the field meteorology and earth sciences, it is not just children but adults, too who must work actively for the cause.”

The programme was organised by Shaik Nayeem general secretary Kriya Sangh Society, Ajay Kumar president STARS an NGO and Shaik Jahangeer.
