As part of its CSR initiative, Coromandel International Ltd donated Rs 25 lakh to Hrudaya Foundation recently. The cheque was handed over by A Vellayan, Chairman, Murugappa Group to Yugandher Meka and Dr. Gopichand Mannam, Board of Trustees, Hrudaya Foundation in the presence of Sameer Goel, Managing Director, Coromandel International, N Srinivasan, Director-Finance, Murugappa Group and senior officials of Coromandel International.
On the occasion, A Vellayan also interacted with parents, whose kids (1-11 years) went through surgery.“The number of children affected with CHD has been increasing in a geometric progression, in which only six per cent to eight per cent of them are lucky to receive the medical treatment,” said Vellayan.
“In India, upto 1,21,000 cases of CHD reach the age of 15 years due to the lack of health awareness, poverty and inadequate healthcare resources. The rest are not diagnosed and treated on time or that their parents cannot afford the cost of surgery and treatment. This surgery betters their chances of life and helps them lead a normal healthy life thereafter,” he added.
