National honours for Global Hospitals
The Global Medical, Education and Research Foundation, part of the Global Hospitals Group, announced the winning of the prestigious National Innovation Award, 2016 constituted by SRISTI (Society for Research and Initiatives for Sustainable Technologies and Institutions).Â
The Global Medical, Education and Research Foundation, part of the Global Hospitals Group, announced the winning of the prestigious National Innovation Award, 2016 constituted by SRISTI (Society for Research and Initiatives for Sustainable Technologies and Institutions).
An innovative product developed jointly by Global Medical Education and Research Foundation and IIT–Delhi won the BIRAC-SRISTI award for biotechnological/medical/healthcare innovation at a function held in New Delhi. The Title of the Innovation was Rapid Endotoxin Entrapment and Detection on surface engineered glass substrates.
“Our innovation was one among the 19 awards selected from a total of 2,363 nominations from 276 Institutions and Universities, from 26 States and 2 Union Territories. Each innovation gets a grant of Rs 15 lakh for taking the idea forward. This product was developed in a joint project funded under the Biotechnology Ignition Grant of BIRAC and DBT.
Two patents also have been applied for,” said Dr KS Ratnakar, Director, Global Medical, Education and Research Foundation. Dr V Sritharan, Consultant and Head, Molecular Diagnostics and Biomarkers Lab, Global Hospitals and Dr Shalini Gupta, Asstant Professor, Department of Chemical Engineering, IIT-Delhi were the guides to a group of six students from IIT-Delhi.
SRISTI (Society for Research and Initiatives for Sustainable Technologies and Institutions) has established national awards for innovative student projects in engineering, pharmacy, science and other applied technologies. These were given away by Dr RA Mashelkar, Chairperson of National Innovation Foundation at Rashtrapati Bhavan.
