When Moet Hennessy India launched its sparkling wines, Chandon Brut and Chandon Brut Rose in Hyderabad at Olive Bistro, they also brought in these awesome potions (cocktails) made using the Brut. They are evidently called the party starters – and why not.
When Moet Hennessy India launched its sparkling wines, Chandon Brut and Chandon Brut Rose in Hyderabad at Olive Bistro, they also brought in these awesome potions (cocktails) made using the Brut. They are evidently called the party starters – and why not.
The Chandon Brut made from the Chenin Blanc, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir grapes, exudes fruity flavours (predominantly citrus) that is accentuated in the signature cocktail – Elderflower Spritzer. By adding the Elderflower cordial, orange slices and cucumber slices, the Chenin blanc gets the additional citrus zing topped with the heady orange fragrance, yet not so over powering that the original vibrancy of the sparkling wine is affected, and the bubbly drink is pleasing to the eyes too.
Yet another summery cocktail is the Chandon Lemon made by adding vanilla syrup for the flavour and lime juice for the zing. The syrup and lime juice are shaken well with ice, strained and topped with chilled brut – and lo and behold you have the simple, refreshing drink that does say something about the wine, which is fine and balanced and has the ability to sink in other fruit flavours (orange, lemon) quite effortlessly. At Olive Bistro, I paired the mixes with Greek salad with watermelon and feta crumbs, and batter fried fish and chips, which was quite a combo indeed.
Chandon Brut Rose on the other hand, made using Shiraz and Pinot Noir grapes and red cherries that contribute to the rich aroma goes down well with Rose’ fans. It is interesting to note how the international brand has used the strength of Indian grapes from the famous Nashik region, invested in a winery and produced fine wines that follow the signature Chandon image. One hopes this is just the beginning and one gets to taste more from the Indian wing of Chandon winery.
