The South Central railway (SCR) is developing 15 Adarsh stations and work is progressing at a fast pace,” informed SCR general manager Ravindra Gupta at the 70th Zonal Railway Users Consultative Committee (ZRUCC) meeting on Wednesday.

It may be mentioned that all 68 stations declared as Adarsh. Of this, 53 have already been developed and works are in progress in the remaining ones. The general manager also informed that 34 lifts and 36 escalators have been provided at important railway stations towards enhancing passenger comfort. Works are under progress to provide 8 lifts and 15 escalators at more centres.

The ZRUCC members suggested for the speedy development in setting up of additional terminals at Bolarum or Charlapalli to ease the burden on Secunderabad station and completion of MMTS Phase-II works. A few members drew the attention of the general manager in improving the lighting facilities and opening of more booking counters.

Summer special trains; construction of ROBs/RUBs; provision of Lifts Escalators at various stations; enhancing security o¬n trains especially for women passengers, too figured in the discussions. AK Gupta, Additional General Manager and Principal Heads of all departments participated in the meeting and it was convened by Neelakanta Reddy, Deputy General Manager (General) and Secretary ZRUCC. Forty six ZRUCC members including M Murali Mohan, MP (Rajahmundry); AP Jithender Reddy, MP (Mahabubnagar), D Rajeswar Rao, MLC were also present including members of the ZRUCC.
