Rail Kalarang donned a colourful garb as rail men and their family members gathered for the 61st Railway Week Zonal Level celebrations. Apart from the report on the SCR’s performance in the last fiscal be it in passenger and freight, what topped the cake was SCR bagging the All India Performance Efficiency Shields in six disciplines including comprehensive health care, stores, civil engineering, commercial, safety and environment management that was received with applause akin to a school level fete.

“It is a great feeling after all the hard work,” remarked Srinivas, an employee. Ravindra Gupta, general manager, SCR presented 164 individual awards for meritorious work done during the year 2015-16 to officers and staff of SCR. He also gave away awards that included 31 efficiency shields to various departments & divisions, seven group awards and two special awards.

The General Manager detailed the performance parameters of SCR during 2015-16 and said that apportioned earnings of the Zone stood at Rs.13,212 cr, registering an upswing over the previous fiscal. In Freight segment, SCR carried 107.163 million tonnes which generated revenue of Rs. 9,225 cr. In the passenger segment, SCR carried 366.75 millions of passengers, generating Rs.3,312 cr, signifying 7.2% increase over last year.

Continuing the stress on elimination of Unmanned Level Crossings (UMLCs), 68 UMLCs were removed during the last financial year as against the target of 48. Yet another endeavor in this aspect is the completion of 33 Road Over/ Road Under Bridges and Limited Height Subways during the year. The General Manager exhorted the Railway personnel to continue to show the same zeal in their works sphere, in the future too.
