ICFAI Law School of ICFAI University, Hyderabad organised the inaugural session of the first N J Yasaswy memorial moot court competition, on April 14, at the ICFAI campus for the students of the states of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.

Justice U Durga Prasada Rao, Judge of the High Court of Judicature at Hyderabad for the state of Telangana and the state of Andhra Pradesh, while addressing the gathering, appreciated ICFAI for conducting the moot court competition in the memory of the visionary and founder of the ICFAI Group, late N J Yasaswy.

He emphasised that law is a dynamic subject and has to change with the needs and requirements of the society and people. He guided the students on the importance of updating of legal knowledge by referring a case on Motor Vehicles Act. He suggested that to become a true lawyer one should be a master in law subject.

He also encouraged the students to read law texts, journals and, moreover, the case laws. He also motivated the students to become good lawyers, for which they should have to make use of every opportunity to learn oratory skills, argumentative skills and professional skills.

They should make an in depth study of subjects and give presentations. He also gave some tips for successful participation in moot court competitions.

Two cases were given for the moot court competition and was unique for the reason that it is opened for participation for showcasing the mooting talents of students.

Ten teams from various law colleges and universities of both the states have participated in the competition.
