The South Central Railway (SCR) received a boost at the national level when it won in a record six disciplines at the ‘All India Performance Efficiency Shields’ awards of the Indian Railways.

The South Central Railway (SCR) received a boost at the national level when it won in a record six disciplines at the ‘All India Performance Efficiency Shields’ awards of the Indian Railways.

The celebrations, which were a part of the 61st Railway Week National Awards, were held at KIIT University in Bhubaneswar. Minister of Railways, Suresh Prabhakar Prabhu presented the shields to the General Manager of SCR Ravindra Gupta, who was accompanied by respective principal heads of departments at the glittering function along with Minister of Railways (TS), Manoj Sinha.

The efficiency shields awarded were for Comprehensive Healthcare, Stores, Commercial, Civil Engineering, Safety and Environment Management categories. Apart from this, the Nandyal Running Room, Guntur Division was adjudged as Second Best on Indian Railways.

In his address, Suresh Prabhu said that the workforce of Indian Railways are the assets of the organisation and rewarding the best performers is to motivate each employee to perform better.

In the individual awards category, four of SCR’s officers and staff P Chaitanya, Senior Divisional Operations Manager, Secunderabad; M Ramesh Kumar, Senior Divisional Engineer, Guntakal Division, D Jayakar, Sr Section Engineer, Signal, Secunderabad Division and S Tarakeswara Rao, Sr Technician, Electric Loco Shed, Lallaguda received the Individual “Outstanding Service Award” at all India level.

In addition, K Hari Kishore, Secretary to Chief Commercial Manager, SCR was awarded (Joint Winner) of English Essay Competition in Gazetted Category and Feroze Fathima, Office Superintendent, IRISET, Secunderabad got the award in Non-Gazetted Category.
