Having set an unprecedented record with the successful conduct of chess tournament every second weekend for 120 months, Brilliant Grammar High School in Dilsukhnagar has entered local chess folklore with its popular Brilliant Trophy tournament.

Having set an unprecedented record with the successful conduct of chess tournament every second weekend for 120 months, Brilliant Grammar High School in Dilsukhnagar has entered local chess folklore with its popular Brilliant Trophy tournament.

In order to commemorate the achievement, Brilliant Chess Academy is all set to go national with Brilliant Trophy first Decade All India Fide Rated Open Chess tournament and All India Fide Rated Rapid chess tournament in the school premises from May 8 to 15.

Tournament Director, Dr K Kanna Reddy, told the media “the event that carries an overall prize-money of Rs 2 lakh will witness participation of 300 top-grade performers. The eventual titlist will be richer by Rs 40, 000 while the runner-up will get Rs 25, 000.”

Four International Masters CRG Krishna, M Chakravarthy Reddy, K Praneeth Surya and S Ravi Teja will be seen in action as would be Harsha Bharatkoti, Raja Rithvik, Kushagra Mohan, Nanditha, Varshitha, Deepthamsh Reddy, Sreeshwan, SSV, Aditya, Karthi Kumar Pradeep, J Sai Agni Jeevithesh and Ch Sahajasri.

According to Organising Secretary, J Subrahmanyam, “a rapid chess tournament will be conducted on May 14 and 15. An amount of Rs 50,000 is earmarked for the top 20 finishers.”

Dasrath Reddy, President, Nalgonda Chess Association, appreciated Brilliant Chess Academy and the school correspondent K Narayana Reddy for promoting the sport and providing opportunities to hundreds of players with its tournament. The official website of Telangana Chess Association was unveiled on the occasion.
