Patients with chronic pain need special treatment. If people neglect acute pain, they are likely to suffer for an entire lifetime,” said Health Minister Kamineni Srinivas, at the inaugural of Amaravati Pain Clinic, on the premises of Indo American Dental Hospital here on Wednesday.

Srinivas said that Pain Clinics, though not unknown to the people in metropolitan cities, are certainly new to Vijayawada. The forehead and fingertips are the most sensitive parts to pain.

“When pain continues for more than three months it becomes a disease and is no more than just a symptom,” he explains. Treating these chronic pains at earliest will help the patient to lead a normal life, he added.

Speaking on the occasion, Pain Physician Ch Murali Krishna said, “The most common complaints include elbow pains, shoulder pains and lower back pains.
