Swaratarangini, a musical organisation, as a part of its 3rd annual celebrations, have conducted concerts from 17 to 19 of this month at Sivaramakrishna Kshetram.

R Chitra and R Vijayalakshmi noted as Mambalam sisters presented a vocal concert for the inaugural on the first day. These sisters are from Chennai and had their training with eminent musicians BV Raman and Lakshman and are now perusing advance training at Suguna Varadachari.

They presented keerthanas composed by Saint Thyagaraja, Syamasastry, Muttuswamy deekshitar and Annamayya. The concert was aptly supported by Radhika Srinivasan on Violin, Dandamudi Sumathi Rammohanrao on Mridangam, LA Phanibhushan on Ghatam and Beekara Suresh Babu on Kanjeera.

Audience involved themselves in the concert and expressed their gratitude to the organisers for organising these concerts.
On second day of the celebrations, an excellent duet by Peri Thyagaraju and his troupe had been arranged.

It was a fantastic show presented by Peri Thyagaraju on Violin with K Nandakumar on Sitar. Peri Thyagaraju had been trained by his father Peri Sri Ramamurthy and also was being trained in western classical music at Thames Vally University, London.

The concert was commenced with Muttuswamy Deekshitar ‘Vatapiganapatim’ in Hamsadwani ragam and followed by Thyagaraja swamy keerthana ‘Niravadhi Sukha’ in Kanada ragam.

The exceptional composition in Saraswathi ragam on violin by Peri Thyagaraju and Hindustani composition on sitar in Keeravani ragam was acclaimed excellent by the spectators. Outstanding support rendered by PS Phalgun on Mrudangam and MS Pavan Kumar on Tabla.

On the concluding day Swaratarangini arranged the ‘Percussion concert’ of Mridanga maestro BVS Prasad. The artiste had his Mridanga training from Vadlamudi Balaji and Vankayala Narasimham.

He presented his show with ‘Girijaramana’ keerthana in Ganbhira nata ragam and continued the concert with keerthanas like ‘Endaro Mahanubhavulu’ in Sri ragam, ‘Adaro paadaro’ keerthana, ‘Sankarine padamule’.

The highlight of the concert was ‘Ragam-Tanam-Pallavi’. V Saraswathi’s vocal support had brought richness to the concert. V Krishnaveni, Harihara Subrahmanyam, Nerkkonam Dr S Sankar ably supported the main concert with violin, Ghatam and Kanjira.

The Extraordinary concerts were enjoyed by music lovers. The efforts of Ganduri Srinivasa Murthy, G Rama Satyanarayana, Ch Venkateswara Sarma, PNV Sudhakar, BVSS Jagadesh and Kuppa Venkateswarlu were highly appreciate by all.
