Over a hundred people came down to listen to their favourite numbers. Ghazals that reverberated the open-air night included “Mere Humnafas Mere Humnava”, “Woh Mujh Se Hoi Humkalam” and “Gulon Ki Baat Karo” amongst others as Runki enthralled the audience with her great voice. She sang a total of six ghazals and was assisted on sitar by Vijay, guitar by Raju and tabla by VLK Chari artistes.

“I’m one of the biggest fans of Farida Khanum and have grown listening to her from childhood. She is a great Ghazal singer was born in Calcutta and her family moved to Pakistan after the partition. In 1950 she was invited by All India Radio to sing Ghazals,” recounted Runki Goswami on the maestro.

She also discussed about the greatness of Farida Khanum between the songs. Speaking about her upcoming performance in United States, she said, “We are still trying to formulate the concept. Nothing is certain, but it is going to be Bhajans, Geeth, Ghazals and Thumri. We are going to perform this in Los Angeles and New Jersey.”
