It is after almost one-and-a-half years that the lion safari, a major attraction at the zoo restarts its operation.

It is after almost one-and-a-half years that the lion safari, a major attraction at the zoo restarts its operation.

Four CNG vehicles with a seating capacity of 21 each have been procured at a cost of Rs 16.67 lakh each. The safari has three major areas exclusively for lion, tiger and bear, also visible are nilgai, deer and pea fowl in the safari area.

The tickets for the safari are Rs 40 for adults and Rs 20 for children. The length covered is 2.8 km in a time span of 45 minutes.

With the growing number of visitors at the zoo, 10 more battery operated vehicles were procured at Rs 3.85 lakh each. On an average 4,000 people would be able to use the battery operated vehicles daily.

New attraction
A new enclosure with three Albino Black Bucks is the new attraction at the zoo. The animals are from Mahendra Choudhury Zoological Park, Chatbir, Punjab and were brought as part of the animal exchange programme.
