Vizianagaram: A, young dental doctor, who is suddenly required to turn as a politician has now emerged as highly performed public representative in Andhra Pradesh and later she is selected for prestigious Panchayat Sasaktheekaran Puraskar by Union government of India.

Swathi Rani aged around 27 years, a dentist, daughter of Sobha Hymavathi, a senior MLA and president of AP Telugu Mahila has got a sudden opportunity to contest as member of Zilla Parishad territorial constituency from Vepada Mandal of Vizianagaram district in previous ZP elections from Telugu Desam Party.

Fortunately Telugudesam won majority ZPTC seats in those elections and the Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has chosen Swathi Rani as Chairperson of Zillaparishad of Vizianagaram.

Immediately after assuming charge, Swathi Rani, tried to understand the panchayatiraj activities, the governance, administration, powers, rights and responsibilities as a chairperson of the district, which has more than 12 lakh population, 24 mandals, more than 900 Grama Panchayatis.

Though Swathi Rani is new to politics, with the support of bureaucrats, other colleagues, especially her husband Ganesh and mother Hymavathi she has toured all over the district and identified that rural people of this district are away from basic amenities and they are struggling to get even drinking water too.

Later she conducted a meeting with concerned authorities and fixed targets to them and insisted to solve some chronic problems as soon as possible.

Even the has given priority to minimise corruption and encourage the honesty and provide jobs to some eligible candidates under deceased quota without any controversy. Apart from the politics, the young politician Swathi Rani likes to spend more time with school children and to motivate them towards social service and to insist on social responsibility.

All these efforts were recognised by the union government and selected the most backward district Vizianagaram for Panchayat Sasaktheekaran Puraskar. The Union government has recognised the district for better performance in governance, rural development, and social service.

In the same way Dwarapudi village, which is nearby Vizianagaram town, adopted by the union minister for civil aviation is selected for Rastriya Gourav Gramasabha Puraskar by the union government. As a part of the puraskar, ZP will get the funds of Rs 30 lakh from Union government and Dwarapudi will get Rs10 lakhs.

ZP chairperson, Swathi Rani has received the award from Union minister for Panchayatiraj Chaudhary Birender Singh, on 24 of April on National Panchayatiraj Day at Jamshedpur in a function.

Speaking on this achievement, Swathi Rani talked to The Hans India “My friends, class mates are spending more time with their families, but I don’t have time to do so, Even I am unable to take care of my four years old son.

This situation is definitely painful for me but meeting, mingling the poor people, knowing of their problems and solving them give me more pleasure and I enjoy involving in social service.

Even my husband, mother also feels happy for the achievement and I am delighted to receive the national level award. The award is an encouragement for the young leaders like me.” She added.
