The first 14-day training for Spay/Neuter on dogs concluded at the Blue Cross of Hyderabad facility in Jubilee Hills on Thursday.

During the training workshop, more than 200 dogs have been caught, sterilised, vaccinated and released back to the location from where they were picked up. Veterinarians were trained in conducting surgeries and pre and post operation care through theoretical and practical sessions.

Dr Vijay Kumar from Kurnool district, one of the veterinarians who attended the training, runs his pet clinic and he explained, “Through this training, now I am much more confident in performing surgeries on small animals.

Before the training, I used to take 30 minutes for male and 45 minutes for female operation, but now I can take 15 minutes and 25-30 minutes to perform the same.”

“By training government veterinarians like us, we will be able to conduct more surgeries back home, which will help in reducing rabies and cases of dog-bites, making our village healthier for dogs and human beings,” he added.

The next training session will start on Monday wherein, 16 veterinarians will be trained. This series of workshops will go on until July, through which 112 veterinarians will be trained.
