With the transport and the traffic police planning to start a special drive against erring autos from May 16, owners of autos are rushing to the Attapur centre for recalibrating fare metres.

The problem, however, is the rough time they are having as Attapur is the only centre for Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy districts.

Many drivers have to spend the whole day at the office and in several cases, return the following day if the work is not completed.

Shankar, an auto driver said that the there was a need for more centres as people from faraway places like Vikarabad, Patancheru and Medchal have to come for testing.

M Dayanand, general secretary, Auto &Motor Welfare Association, Greater Hyderabad says, “On an average 700 autos reach Singareni Colony, Attapur from as far as Ghatkesar and Ibrahimpatnam.

The department should set up additional centres and there is also a problem of staff collecting extra amount.”
