Counseling for admission to the various B.Tech. programmes of VIT University, Vellore commenced simultaneously at the Vellore and Chennai campuses of VIT on Monday.  

Hyderabad: Counseling for admission to the various B.Tech. programmes of VIT University, Vellore commenced simultaneously at the Vellore and Chennai campuses of VIT on Monday.

Counselling was held for the candidates who obtained ranks 1 to 8000 in the VIT Engineering Entrance Examination (VITEEE) held in 145 centres in 115 cities across India, Dubai, Kuwait and Muscat from April 6 to 17, 2016.

A total of 2,12,238 candidates appeared for the VITEEE-2016. VIT Vice-Presidents Sekar Viswanathan and G.V. Selvam inaugurated the first phase counselling session at the Vellore campus by distributing the admission letters to the first few candidates who selected their programmes.

They gave away the letters to Harshit Rawat (B.Tech. Computer Science and Information Security) and Shreya Gajanan Namjoshi (B.Tech. Biotechnology).

VIT Vice-Chancellor Anand A Samuel, Pro-Vice-Chancellor S Narayanan and Director, Admissions (UG) K Manivannan participated in the function.

Under the first phase which commenced on Monday, counseling would be held on May 10 (for ranks 8001 to 12,000), May 11 (12,001 to 16,000) and May 12 (16,001 to 20,000).

Under the second phase, counseling would be held on May 23 (ranks 20,001 to 35,000), May 25 (35,001 to 50,000), May 30 (50,001 to 75,000) and June one (75,001 to 99,999).
