The six-day awareness campaign for rainwater harvesting, organised by the Society For Awareness & Vision On Environment (SAVE), concluded at dharna chowk in Indira Park on Monday.

The campaign proposes for erection of one lakh rainwater harvest pits in Telangana before the rainy season begins this year.

Speaking at the event, Vijaya Ram, secretary of SAVE said that global warming and killing of greenery has led to reduction of groundwater and drying of water bodies.

“In this regard, we are moving to all parts of Telangana to campaign severely and educate people on how to erect rainwater harvesting pits, explore water in dry bore wells. The campaign begins on Tuesday and will be on until May 17.

We will also provide technical support to people for erecting pits and move industrialists, philanthropists, NGOs and government agencies to take active part in water conservation,” he said.
