The Food Corporation of India, Regional Office in the city paid rich tributes to the Father of the Indian Constitution, Dr B R Ambedkar.

This was to commemorate his 125th birth anniversary and the completion of 100 years of submission of a landmark paper, ‘Castes in India; Their Mechanism, Genesis and Development’ by Ambedkar at an anthropology seminar in Columbia University.

A Raja Gopal, General Manager (Region) noted that Ambedkar was an inspiration to the proponents of equality and social justice across the globe.

Retired bureaucrat R Subba Rao spoke about the evolution of caste systemand explained the social realities scientifically, critically and objectively while Dr K Y Ratnam, Associate Professor, Dept. of Political Science in University of Hyderabad stressed the need to promote the ideas and reforms suggested by Ambedkar in order to promote national integration.

Deputy General Managers of the Corporation, Manmohan Singh Sarang, G Maharaj Kumar, Ch V Govardhana Rao, T Bipin Chakravarty, Victor Amalraj and BO Maheswarappa participated in the function. Regional Liaison Officer T Raju proposed a vote of thanks.
