In this regard, a study by Indus Health Plus revealed that 12 per cent of females under the age group of 25 to 35 years are under the risk of high BP, resulting from stress and ignorance of the symptoms.

Speaking to The Hans India, Preventive Healthcare Specialist, Indus Health Plus, Amol Naikawadi shares, “The incidences of high BP are more amongst females (35-45 years) than males. It is not only prevalent in older age group, but is affecting youngsters in early 20s as well.”

“People who follow sedentary lifestyle with less or no physical activity fall prey to hypertension. If not treated on time, it can lead to heart problems, renal and multiple organ failure. Timely and routine check-up can reduce the risk of Hypertension,” adds Amol.

The sample size for the study was 10,284 people who underwent preventive health check-up during January 2015 – April 2016.

Stress induced Hypertension is increasing by four per cent amongst working population. Upto 14 per cent of the total population is at risk of the disorder.

The survey report states that close to 10 per cent of those with eye problems were at a risk of Hypertension. What’s shocking is that none of them knew that Blood Pressure can have adverse effects on one’s eye.

A few doctors express that junk food and long working hours is one of the reasons for the increase of hypertension risk that is by 10-12 per cent.

There were a few cases where expecting mothers in the age group of 35 years and above were suffering from BP and four to five per cent of such cases were from the working population.
