Dr Rakesh Kumar Mishra has been appointed as a new director of the city-based Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology (CCMB) by the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), New Delhi. 

Dr Rakesh Kumar Mishra has been appointed as a new director of the city-based Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology (CCMB) by the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), New Delhi.

Dr Mishra's research interests include investigating evolutionarily conserved features of genome organisation, chromatin structure and epigenetic regulation of genes during embryonic development using genetic, cell biology, biochemical and bioinformatics approaches.

Dr Mishra has obtained his M.Sc. and PhD from Allahabad University and after an initial stint at IISc., Bengaluru visited the University of Bordeaux, France, Saint Louise University, USA and the University of Geneva, Switzerland for post-doctoral experience. He joined CSIR-CCMB as senior Scientist in 2001.

While assuming the coveted post of Director, CCMB, he said “This century belongs to biology and CSIR-CCMB combination is poised to make major impact. Our aim is, while making strong international impact, to contribute to society the benefits of new knowledge.”
