INV store has a range of design and décor needs, ranging from textiles, high end furniture, object d’art, tableware, lighting and a spa-specific section. The managing director, and interiors expert at the store Madhuri Atluri organised a casual chat to introduce the store, and highlight a few décor ideas for homes.

“Interior design is not about just what is best or aesthetically pleasing, and is more than just selecting fabrics and colours to paint. Interior design affects how people live, move through space and interact with interior environment on a daily basis, across the globe.

There are many challenges that come with design, so the more interior designers understand about the client’s need, the better they can space plan and design for the client.”

She gave a few pointers while designing interiors for homes

• There should be proper ventilation and you should have lot of space and less furniture.
• The most challenging thing is management, you need more proper planning, and perfect management is an art.
• Functionally is a big challenge that needs to be addressed.
• When we live in an apartment, proper ventilation can give it a feel of an independent house.
• Having balcony and getting in a green concept is good for our future.
• The dining area will look beautiful if it has bright lighting.
• Proper space should be allotted for furniture.
• Glass in the house need not always serve the purpose of a mirror. It is art of design which can be an integral part of house. It looks very pretty.
